"ATTIC will engage people in the arts by commissioning and producing theatre that challenges and excites audiences, and empowers the communities we work with in Merton, across London and on tour."

General Manager Victoria Hibbs
ATTIC Theatre Company started in 1994, growing out of the ATTIC Theatre, the name of the theatre space that is now New Wimbledon Studio, SW19. In 2002 we moved on from the building to running the company and touring have been expanding ever since.
ATTIC has over 45 productions to its credit - world premieres, international
plays, classic revivals and Shakespeare. We commission playwrights and take
risks with programming to maintain the high quality of production that is
the hallmark of our company. We work in London and throughout the UK.
Particularly successful new plays in London include Miss Roach's War by Richard Kane (Croydon Warehouse), Wigs Wide Boys and The Ruler of The World by Jane James (New Wimbledon Studio) and Markings by Dominic Francis (Southwark Playhouse). Tours of Markings and David Harrower's play Knives in Hens (bold, powerful, polished - Time Out) were groundbreaking. In 2007 we took a new look at the classics and contemporary theatre, taking Afterplay & The Bear by Brian Friel on its first tour across the UK. And from 2008 we have been developing 1936 by Tom McNab, initially staged as a radio play and developed into a full stage production for 2010.
ATTIC Outreach
Ma Kelly's Doorstep, and Ma Kelly Plays It Safe are plays we have developed on Crime Reduction and Home Safety in partnership with the Metropolitan Police and Fire Brigade. These entertaining shows tour the London boroughs and are hugely successful with senior citizens, and effective - so much so that we have embarked on the third, this time about healthy, independent living, Ma Kelly goes to the Games.
Many Voices involves young refugees and asylum seekers in drama workshops that are stimulating and imaginative. We welcome prospective partners across London. Many Voices is in association with the Afghan Association Paiwand and he Bishopsford LINK unit within Bishopsford School.
